Taoyuan International Airport Train

Aside of the MRT, there are other means to get to downtown Taipei by train.


At Taoyuan Airport there isn’t any mean of train transportation, so it turns necessary to transfer to both High Speed Rail and Taiwan Railway stations.

High Speed Rail


The Taiwan High Speed Rail Taoyuan Station is about 8 km (5 mi) away and is accessible by MRT System.


It is easy to get to the High Speed Rail station from Taoyuan Airport:


You should simply ride the MRT straight to THSR Taoyuan Station, which will take you just 20 minutes.
On the other hand, you can also get there by the bus route no.706 to THSR Taoyuan Station, which takes just 25 minutes. See more information regarding buses.


From there, you can catch one of the HSR trains. On the way back, there are check-in counters at the station for China Airlines, EVA Air flights.


Frequency is around 15 and 30 minutes.

Taiwan Railway


The Taiwan Railway stands for the commuter train transportation within Taiwan.
The main railway in Taipei is Taipei Main Station, which is located 40 km from the airport in downtown.

 

To board any of the Taiwan Railway trains, you have a couple of options:
Take the bus route no.706 and get to Taoyuan Railway Station (which is closer then Taipei Main Station). See more information regarding buses.


On the other hand, take the route 5059 and get to Taoyuan Railway Station.
Frequency is around 10 – 15 minutes.
